About ReikiEma

Hi - I'm Ema - founder of ReikiEma, Holistic Practitioner and Teacher.

I'm a geeky human, with a passion for learning, self-development, holistic and complementary therapies, and helping people (human and other species) to live their best lives!

How & where I work: Holistic treatments & other client services

I offer my clients treatments at locations to suit their individual circumstances and changing needs. Currently I'm able to offer treatments at clinic locations across St Helens, Warrington and Wigan.

I'm also fully mobile, so provided there aren't lots of stairs to climb and as long as there's a suitable floor space, and the ability to arrange for the privacy and undisturbed time, I offer my clients the option of  home visits. This is particularly popular for my pregnancy massage clients, and for those with mobility or sensory needs - but this option does also offer the advantages of a slightly lower rate (depending on distance) as well as the ability to relax and bask in the post-treatment glow, without needing to then travel back afterwards.

Home visits are standard for my Animal Reiki client! This is because when they are in a familiar home/stable environment, this usually means that they'll get the most benefit from their treatment.

For some of my therapies (including Animal Reiki), I offer a remote treatment option. This typically begins with a consultation on audio or video, or if preferred, by text. Once we've covered the essentials, and agreed on any goals or intentions, the call ends, you find a safe, quiet place to lie down comfortably, undisturbed for the duration of your treatment, and I get to work. Afterwards, I let you know that the treatment has concluded, by text message, and we can either have a post-treatment conversation then, or by arrangement if you'd like a day or two to allow the treatment to take effect, and settle.

Working with other professionals/organisations

As well as working with individuals, I also reach and help people through my work with several organisations. I've done this in a range of ways: helping support wellbeing and/or recovery, through treatments, wellbeing workshops, demonstrating and sharing knowledge on different tools and techniques, to help empower people in developing their own personal self-care and self-treatment regime. I am also an experienced public speaker, and can offer workshops, demonstrations and wellbeing resources and reference materials at events.

I'm proud to have worked with:

  • The UK Reiki Federation (of which I'm a Member): as a regular speaker on their Wellbeing Webinar sessions I run self-healing and Reiki technique tutorial/practice sessions monthly, and I've spoken at the last two UK Reiki Federation Annual Conferences).

  • Warrington Carers' Hub (with their Young Carers and adult carers);

  • Warrington Halton & St. Helens' RSPCA animal centre;

  • Warrington Jobcentre (a Reiki talk/demonstration at their staff wellbeing meeting);

  • Warrington Jobcentre's Health Support Fairs;

  • Bents Garden Centre (Animal Reiki during their "BarkFest" Event weekend);

  • Women's Institute (Birchwood Branch);

  • Thrive event (for survivors of high-demand religions);

  • University of Chester (proposing, and working on, a study looking into the behavioural effects of Animal Reiki on several of the resident dogs at the centre).

  • Warrington Disability Awareness Day 2024 (Walton Gardens)- where I unveiled my new Reiki Gazebo

  • MacIntyre's Apple Day 2024 (in the New Routes Community Orchard)

  • Strong Girls' Club NorthWest

  • Sam's Diamonds Cancer Support Charity's Northwest Wellbeing & Cancer Care Conference, St Helens

Volunteering and advocating for Reiki

I'm also honoured to be a member of the UK Reiki Federation's Research Group (since 2024). This does mean a lot of commitment and work, but I'm willing to do that, as it really aligns with my ongoing efforts at helping to build awareness and public trust, and by doing this, to help build the credibility of the Reiki profession in the UK - and in the wider world! This is, I believe, much needed work, to help remove blockers to Reiki being even more widely accepted, acknowledged and integrated into mainstream services, so that it can have the maximum opportunity to help improve lives. Reiki is so accessible and safe - and it can help alleviate suffering and improve the quality of live for so many. That's what I want to see, and that's what my driving mission is - to help make accessible, better wellbeing for everyone - no exceptions!

When Reiki came into my life, it was like coming home. And after my first Reiki 1 attunement, I realised that there was another way for me to help people to achieve positive change - one which was on a much deeper level, and would be better for my wellbeing, as well as making a more meaningful impact for the people I helped. So I took the scary decision to step away from the Public Sector Senior Project Management role I had worked most of a decade to attain, and took the brave leap into training from scratch as a Holistic Practitioner! I do still have my Project Management and business knowhow to help me succeed, for which I'm extremely grateful. No learning or experience is ever a waste of time, where Reiki's concerned!

I'm so blessed to do what makes my heart happy, and to help people discover the powerful, moving, wonder of Reiki and the other therapies I offer.

I founded ReikiEma in early 2020, as soon as I qualified as a professional Reiki practitioner - and despite my (arguably questionable) timing, I'm still very much here - being tenacious, flexible and creative. Being creative is something I've always thrived on - finding new ways to take my work forward, supporting and helping others (and myself, too)!

I'm now a qualified, experienced Reiki Master Teacher and CNHC practitioner, offering treatments and Reiki courses in the North-west of England.

I also started volunteering during lockdown. It is really important for me, my wellbeing and ethos to give back, and to help causes I'm passionate about. It's my dream to be able to do more of this, in the future, as I build my business; - and it's my hope to someday found a Reiki School / Animal Sanctuary/Rescue, combined with a residential Animal Reiki school and healing volunteering retreat centre for humans!

I've already achieved one of my major dreams, and am now registered with the CNHC (the UK Government's Regulator for Complementary Therapies)! I'm also a UK Reiki Federation-accredited Reiki for Animals Professional practitioner. Having given Reiki to many of the animals at my local RSPCA centre as a volunteer, during lockdown, I realised that working with other species is a huge part of my calling. What a blessing and a learning opportunity it's been for me, too!

“Ema is always so calm, understanding and patient with the animals. She is … extremely adaptable to suit each animal's needs. Most of the animals which come into our care have suffered abuse or neglect which Ema shows true compassion towards. …. We are all immensely grateful for the time and commitment Ema gives and would 100% recommend her service to anyone and any animal which needs additional help/support.”

Alana Bibby, Animal Welfare Team Leader, RSPCA-WHS

My therapy offerings also now include Therapeutic Meditation, Pregnancy massage, Womb healing massage with Reiki, Facial Rejuvenation Holistic Massage, Holistic Acupressure and Student-level Shiatsu, and acupressure massage (I'm taking a 3-year CNHC-accredited diploma at the Manchester Shiatsu College). All of this learning/experience in  different therapies, is something that informs my Reiki work (and my teaching) as well.

(Check out my Media page to learn about the different fields I have professional involvement in, and to see some of the ways I integrate all these influences and experiences together across my work!)

As a "multipotentialite", my interests, passions and vision are always far-reaching (I'm definitely an ideas person) - so watch this space for more updates on exciting new directions and threads to the tapestry of my work and life's purpose!

If you're interested in reading some of my published articles, my article in The Shiatsu Society Journal (August 2022 edition) is also linked on my Media page, where you'll also be able to find my interview in online magazine "Mystic Mag".

If Animal Reiki captures your attention, then you can hear more about that, on the fascinating video of a Panel discussion I took part in - also on the Media page (as well as on YouTube)! Alongside other Animal Reiki practitioners with a background in Rescue Animals, we discussed some of the beautiful and challenging experiences we've had, whilst bringing Reiki to Rescue Centres, with Sue Malcolm, the UK Reiki Federation's (then) Animal Reiki Lead.

I've also been quoted in this article in www.everydayhealth.com about the potential effectiveness of Acupressure, and in another in the same online magazine, which looks into what Acupressure is.

And if (like me) you're intrigued by reading reviews, the main 3 places you can find my clients' feedback are:

1. Google;

2. Client Testimonials;

3. Trustpilot

If you're curious to find out more, you can message me on the "Contact Us" pop-up below, or via email, text, phone or through one of my Social Media accounts.

I've also created two e-books which are super accessible and packed with helpful, practical information about Reiki, what it does, what it's like, what we do (and don't) know about it, and what you can expect from a Reiki treatment. I'm so grateful for all the help and input I received for this project, from the Warrington Carers' Hub.
