Are you curious about Distance Healing?
If so, then you're definitely not alone! This is a subject which people react to with fascination and excitement, but at the same time it can also often feel like it's a step too far to venture into themselves. This is especially true for people who've never experienced a distance (or "remote") treatment for themselves.
But did you know that (as modern and new as it might feel) Distance Healing has existed and been practised since ancient times, under many names, within many cultures across the globe?
In a 2015 study Distance Healing was actually found to be the number 1 Complementary and alternative medicine modality in the US and UK!
Distance Healing exists within (and can be applied as extensions to) different healing modalities, spiritual paths and and energy work practices. It is absolutely not a recent phenomenon, and can be found being used within:
Christianity (intercessionary prayer);
Japanese Healing modalities such as Usui Reiki;
Esoteric Buddhism (within "Kaji");
Shamanic healing;
Spiritual Healing and
QiGong.
But Distance Healing is scientifically impossible, isn't it?
It's true that Distance Healing falls outside the realm of the possible when we look at it through the lens of a Classical "rationalist" model of science. But when we see it with an eye to Quantum Physics' more recent advancements in understanding, Distance Healing suddenly becomes possible.
"The strange part of quantum entanglement is that when you measure something about one particle in an entangled pair, you immediately know something about the other particle, even if they are millions of light years apart."
Andreas Muller in their article in astronomy.com (updated 2023)
Put into this context, of course Distance Healing feels less impossible. It is still the same thing we're talking about, but we have a framework we trust which says it's possible, and has proven it's possible - and so that resonates for us and it feels easier to accept - in theory at least.
But also, as with all things related to ki (or qi/ch'i), whilst the theory is fascinating ~ and let's face it, a bit mind-boggling ~ it's only when we experience it for ourselves that we can actually understand and know what it is.
Like with music, no amount of talking about it, describing it, analysing the theory or the history; will convey to someone what music actually is, until they've experienced hearing (or feeling) it for themselves.
What distance healing feels (and looks like) for a practitioner - and a person receiving it
Here you are, then. It's not the same as receiving it, but it does give glimpses of what is happening, and a unique insight into my process. Also, Qi can sometimes carry via recorded media, so depending on your sensitivity to energy, it's possible that you might feel some of what's happening in the video too, yourself - as crazy as that sounds!
Video 1 shows Distance Healing using Usui Reiki. I narrated the whole thing as I worked, explaining what I was doing, what I experienced and "picked up" whilst I was doing it, and how I interpreted that. Also, what effect I felt my treatment was having, at the time I was giving it.
And video 2 (above) shows me giving a second Distance Healing treatment using Shiatsu. This took place immediately after the Distance Reiki treatment, and also includes the same type of narration, so that you can see (and hear) what's different about the process and experience, from the viewpoint of a practitioner (me).
The person receiving both of these treatments didn't know the order of the treatments they were receiving, so their feedback is totally based on their actual experiences of each Distance Healing session, with no preconceptions based on their ideas around the different Modalities.
I found it a fascinating experiment/demonstration to do, and honestly, I did find some of the feedback afterwards was a little unexpected too!
But what do you think? Let me know in the comments below!
And if this is a subject you'd like to dive deeper into in a future article, go ahead and let me know in the comments as well.
If all this has left you feeling excited about the idea of trying a Distance Healing treatment yourself, why not check my latest availability for a session, yourself?
